sports induced asthma?

sports induced asthma?
I don’t know whether I have sports induced asthma or am just out of shape. I have been running everyday for the past three weeks on my track team and it seems like every time I run I am always gasping for breath when barely running. The reason I think that I have sports induced asthma is because sometimes after I run I cough for a little bit but it was especially bad after I ran at my first track meet this Wensday because I was also wheezing along with the coughing. Any suggestions?

You have some of the symptoms of sports induced asthma – I would swing by a Minute Clinic or somwhere you can get a quick evaluation for cheap. They will most likely put you on a fast acting inhaler and have you take it for a while before excercise. if this helps, you most likely have sports induced asthma.

Yeah you need to see a Pulmonary Specialist and he/she can do some test on your lung functions. They are really easy nothing weird. After three weeks you should not be having these problems. I take it you are young but you can get asthma at anytime in your life. The last thing you need is a full blow asthma attack because that is when you do the damage to your lungs. Good Luck maybe you will need only an inhaler before running.

First off your endurance levels may still be in training mode, (meaning give yourself a mental break and take some time to relax and realize that you are still not at your peak, but you will get there in due time with physical and mental training.) Number two, it may be seasonal allergies.

When I was in high school I ran track as well, I had the same problem. I went to the doctor, who said I had seasonal allergies and exercise induced asthma that was induced by the pollen allergies. During those times I had to take some allergy medicine as well as an inhaler.

If I were you, I would see a Doctor to check to see if this is exercise induced asthma that you are experiencing.
Good Luck!! And have fun running track, it is such a fun sport and can be very rewarding.
